History
Watoto kwanza Kenya was formed in 2006 to ensure the retention of children in school, through feeding programmes. The organization was only providing porridge in one primary school which was St.Patrick Primary School in Thika. It was then a project of porridge club from the United Kingdom which later became Africa Children Fund.
In 2008 the organization was registered by the name WATOTO KWANZA KENYA as a charitable organization.
Through the support of our partner (ACF) and volunteers the organization has grown to provide porridge to 8 primary schools and one children centre. We are also providing lunch in two primary schools.
The programme is improving school attendance as well as raising children’s concentration levels and grades. The Kenyan government has subsidized the cost of primary education but many children are not attending school everyday due to hunger. It is our aim to expand in future so as to feed as many children as possible.
We believe that every one of us has a part to play in ensuring that the millennium goal of education for all is achieved. Watoto kwanza Kenya is doing all we can to ensure children from poor families access basic education.
